Hi! My name is Kay Freeman, and I’m very excited to be starting my 13th year as a Resource Specialist at Bel Aire School!
I grew up in Mill Valley, back when it was a very small town, and graduated from Tamalpais High School. I started college as a nutrition major, but changed majors after volunteering at a private school for students with learning disabilities. I watched the amazing changes that took place in the students as they realized that they were finally learning to read and decided that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!
I went on to get my Multiple Subjects Credential, Learning Handicapped Credential, and Resource Specialist Certificate, and returned to that same school as a teacher!
After a few years of teaching and training, my family moved to Shasta County where I raised my two sons and worked as a Resource Specialist in a K-5 school for 17 years. I also worked as a mentor teacher and continued to take specialized trainings in order to find ways to make learning easier for my students.
I am very happy to be back in Marin. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy visiting my sons in San Diego, going to the beach, traveling, snorkeling in tropical oceans with sea turtles, going to concerts and Giants games, watching my students' baseball and soccer games, and spending time with family and friends.
